Red Hat EarringsEARRINGS!
By Nielsine Archibald

Choosing earrings is not an easy job. Should we buy big, small, sparkly, dangly, studs, matching, contrasting, funky, or sedate? Here is some help.

For casual wear your outfit determines the best style. Plain T-shirts and jeans call for a simple hoop, gold or silver or pearl studs or funky styles can add fun. If you are wearing a patterned T-shirt that is the center of attention, wear a plain earring in one of the colors in the T –shirt, or a plain stud or hoop.

Career wear usually calls for sedate earrings and you can never go wrong with simple gold or silver studs or small hoops. For higher fashion choose gold or silver enhanced with a color from your outfit. When you wear slacks and a sweater or blouse, match the earring color to the color of the pants rather than the sweater or blouse for a more pulled together look.

Bring out your sparkly, funky and dangly earrings for special occasions. If your top is plain go for the patterned or funky style. If your top is an eye-catcher choose a simple earring. Consider your facial shape. For many of us, our neck and chin are not our best features, so a small stud type earring or one that sweeps upward from our earlobe is better than a dangler. When you wear a large necklace choose small earrings that don't detract from the necklace.

Good Luck and Good Shopping!
