La Sonrisa Cabin in Silver City New MexicoLa Sonrisa Cabin

La Sonrisa (the smile in Spanish and pronounced la son-ree-sa) is a place of magic where one can enjoy all the beauty of the Gila Wilderness and its bounties of birds and wildlife. Located just five miles from downtown Silver City, in the arms of the Bear Mountain Peaks, this cabin features exquisite interior and exterior design that brings nature to you. This is the only cabin with a full view of Bear Mountain.

There is a natural artesian pond with a bounty of water lilies and bullfrogs to sing you to sleep. The pond is stocked with perch. It will be a race between the blue heron, which loves to dive the pond for food, and the fisherman.  Bird lovers, this is paradise!

The pond served the indigent peoples and a family known as the Clarks in the 1870s. Relax and see the wonders of many of the wild birds typical to the area known as The Gila, or you may float the pond under the New Mexican sunshine and weeping willows. Have an iced tea, a margarita, or supper outdoors under the canopy of trees and know a gas grill is available.

Eight hundred sq. ft. of patio is on the pond and allows NATURE to be at your fingertips. A macaw named Moon and a yellow nape Amazon will talk to you either from the trees or the aviary. It is now known that the macaws were held sacred by the Pueblo Indians following the trade route from Central America. Now the remains of a macaw have been found at the Cliff Dwellings, a must see in the Gila.

Also, if you are feeling spunky, there are horseback riding lessons available separate from the cabin price.  Learn from a true cowgirl and know a lesson has one low price for either 30 minutes up to two hours depending on your derriere and ability. The horse and the owner are both patient.  Also there is a free workout room with everything you could desire.  So if you are into pumping some muscle, go for it. One mountain bike is also available. The walks from the cabin are lovely and take you right into the pines.

La Sonrisa Cabin for vacation rentals in New MexicoThe cabin comfortably sleeps one to four persons. It is two bedroom and two baths with a large dining area and cable television and a computer available at this time. House broken cats and dogs are welcomed. There is no fencing though all pets are protected including the parrots and dogs that live here, and the safety of any pet is measured beyond expectations.

So, when you come to this pristine part of the world for business or buying (Silver City is considered one of the ten best towns to live in) or just to HIDE AWAY, you will have an ideal setting after a day in the Gila or shopping or just hanging out. It is the best of both worlds as eight deer come in each evening and the humming birds and wildlife wink at you.

La Sonrisa
I have begun....
Yes, new horizons for me
For now I walk the gentle path
Experience
And on the path…
I hear the laughter of my children
By the lake where the green grasses
Grow
I have begun...
And feel the collected warmth of memory
Endure
Until I close the curtain with a
Smile.
