How
the Law of Attraction Worked for Me
As many of you know, I have been training to run the Boston Marathon. My goal is to qualify on or before my 60th birthday. I will turn 60 in March of 2010. To run in the Boston Marathon, you must qualify. This is different than most marathons. The only requirement to run in the marathons I know of is to pay the entry fee and file the application, except Boston.
As part of the training, I have been running half-marathons to evaluate my progress. The idea is to check to see if I am getting faster as I intensify the training. The reason for half marathons rather than full marathons is that the recovery time between races is less, therefore I can continue to train after the half-marathon.
Through the more intense training, I have had some small injuries. Foot pain due to tendonitis was a major obstacle this year. I continue to have chronic tendonitis, however, I am able to treat it daily with little if any consequence. Some days the pain is so minor I do not even think to treat myself. Because of the tendonitis and other small running related issues, I waited to register for the Carlsbad Half-Marathon. Thirty-nine days before the Carlsbad Half-Marathon I went to register on line for the race scheduled for Sunday, January 20. I was told that on-line registration was closed. In the past I have registered for the marathon well in advance. I also knew that many people registered for the marathon the morning of the race. On January 8, I was dealt the fatal blow. Both the half and full marathons were sold out. All of the training for this last year would be lost in terms of evaluating my progress at this critical time. I would not be able to run the Carlsbad Half-Marathon.
Reluctantly, I told Lynne, my wife, the news as we were getting ready to go out for dinner. She remarked, “I will get you a bib!” (A bib for those of you who are not familiar with road racing is the number the contestants wear as they run.) While eating dinner that evening on January 8, I notice an old friend, David, come into the restaurant. Remembering that he had run in the last two Carlsbad Half-Marathons, I asked if he was going to be running this year. He lamented that he was not able to run this year. He had hurt his knee while participating in a game of paint ball. As a matter of fact, he told me he was trying to get a refund on his pre-purchased bib number. Lynne found me a bib number!
Most of you by now have seen or read The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, which describes the law of attraction. As you look at your life history I challenge you to tell me one instance where the law of attraction has not worked. Specifically, I am suggesting to you that all we have and all we do not have, has come to us by the law of attraction. If it is illness, good health, wealth, or poverty it all comes to us because we ask for it.
Many of you might challenge my last statement. You need to understand that deliberate action is required to make the law of attraction work. I am suggesting that you need to say what is that you want. Then take action to make it happen. Had Lynne and I stayed in for dinner, we never would have seen David (action.) Had Lynne not said that she was going to get me a bib, I might not have asked David if he was going to run the half-marathon (action.) What I am saying is that the ACTION is what makes the Law of Attraction work.
My request for you
is to ask everyone you know for what it is you need or want now. Do
this for the next 12 months. You will attract more than you will
believe. It will change your life for the better. The law works
for me. It will work for you.
