Arizona Womens Heritage TrailArizona Women’s Heritage Trail
In Collaboration with the Arizona State University; Institute of Humanities Research of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; and Governor Janet Napolitano, Honorary Chair

The Arizona Women’s Heritage Trail (AWHT) is a coalition of Arizona historical agencies and women’s organizations in partnership with the Arizona State University (ASU) Institute for Humanities Research and with the ASU Foundation which serves as fiscal agent.
AWHT is dedicated to the development of a statewide collection of historic sites related to women – their experiences and contributions in the development of Arizona, and to the promotion of women’s history to citizens and tourists.

Women and historic sites designated by the AWHT Scholars and Researchers Board will be highlighted on the website, through historic sites interpretative signs, public informational materials, a fourth grade school curriculum, and statewide traveling exhibits to rural and metropolitan areas.
There are three coordinating and or advisory boards within the organizational structure.  These are the Coordinating Council, Scholars and Researchers Board, and a National Advisory Board.

The AWHT has been designated as a legacy program by the Arizona Centennial Commission in honor of the forthcoming statehood centennial celebration in 2012 and has also been funded as a “We the People initiative” by the National Endowment for the Humanities Council.
