Vista in
June
Known for having at least 340 days of sun, you
can beat out some of the June gloom in Vista,
California, and June is a good month for attending some great events.
You
and your family can experience early California and family fun at the Antique Gas & Steam
Engine Museum’s
Threshing Bee & Tractor Parade - always the 3rd & 4th weekends of June
and
October from 9am-4:30pm. the event includes a tractor
parade, games for children, and plenty of entertainment. The Museum is
located at
2040 N. Sante Fe Ave.,
Vista, CA 92083. Entrance tickets for adults are $8; for
children ages 6-12 are $5, and under 6 are free. Presale tickets are available
and camping is by
reservation at $40 per weekend - this includes show and entertainment.

Another great event is the Annual Scottish Highland Games and Gathering of
Clans that takes place in Brengle Terrace Park (1200 Vale Terrace Drive in
Vista) on June 25 and 26 from 9 am to 5 pm. The Games feature Bagpipe
Bands, Scottish Athletics, Highland Dancing, Drum Major, Bagpipe and
Drumming competitions, sheep dog trials, Scottish Country Dancing and
plenty of Scottish food and merchandise. There is a free concert on June
24th, on Main Street in downtown Vista, at 7 pm. For details, visit their

On
May 28th The Wave Waterpark celebrates
it's opening day.The
Wave opens its eleventh season with a “splashing” event, the annual
“Cutest Aqua Kids Costume Contest.” The competition of cute kids in
aqua-themed costumes begins at 12:00 Noon. This contest is sure to be a
delight for both participants and spectators with bathing beauties and
beaus costumed as everything from surfers to beach balls! Laura Cain of
JACK 100.7 Radio’s Morning Show with Jeff and Jer will host the water-themed costume
contest for children ages 6 months to 5 years. The judging will take place
from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., and will be followed by the awards ceremony. Hundreds
of dollars in prizes will be awarded to the winners, with the first place
winner taking home a prize package worth over $500. The first 200 visitors
through the Wave’s gates on this special opening contest day will receive a
free burrito certificate from Chipotle and grab bags from Chick-fil-A.
The Wave is located at
161 Recreation Drive in Vista,
Phone 940-WAVE. Free
admission to the Wave Waterpark on the day of the event is offered to those
entering the competition. Contestants must register for the contest by
contacting Kenny Handler at (760) 726-1340 ext. 1550 by May 26. All costumes
must be aquatic-related and safe for children to wear. No contestant will be
asked to enter the water, and participants will be asked to sign a release.
Only 50 contestant slots are available. Participants must check in by 11 a.m.
The “Cutest Aqua Kids Costume Contest” is sponsored by Wing Stop, Cold Stone
Creamery, Chick-fil-A, John Robert Powers, Chipotle, CitiBank, Babies ‘R Us,
Girl Star, The Ultra Sound Experience, Moonlight Stage Productions, and San
Diego National Bank.
