Colonel Allensworth State Historical
Park:
Col. Allen Allensworth
was a former slave and military hero – the Union army’s highest ranking
black soldier – when he founded the colony of Allensworth in 1908. Today
the park is a center for historical, cultural and interpretative black
studies. Allensworth is about 50 miles southwest of Visalia. For more

International Agri-Center:
Hosts to the world's largest agricultural exposition, and the California
Antique Farm Equipment Show. The Heritage Complex featuring the Farm

Kaweah Oaks Preserve:
This 324-acre preserve
protects one of the last remaining valley oak riparian forests in the San
Joaquin Valley, where the Yokut Indian tribes once harvested their acorns.
It is where four creeks carrying water from the Sierra converge. Enjoy
self-guided nature trails, picnics, bird watching and special nature

Lake Kaweah: Boating, fishing, swimming, water-skiing,
picnicking and camping. Located east of Visalia, about 10 miles past

Mooney Grove Park: Picnic areas, arbors, seating and barbecue
facilities, arbors and shaded large oak canopies, and a lagoon with
friendly geese and ducks, with rental paddle boats for family fun.

Pixley National Wildlife Refuge:
6,833 Acres of valley grassland and wetland habitats, managed by the
U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. There’s a small marsh, walking trail, and is
home wintering Sandhill Cranes. Open daily from dawn to dusk. From
Visalia, it is located south on Hwy 99.
Sequoia
& Kings Canyon National Parks:
Home to over 1200 species of plant communities, and over 250
animal species, these two parks feature immense mountains, rugged
foothills, deep canyons, vast caverns, and the world’s largest trees!
