About Three Rivers & Lemon Cove, California
Three
Rivers and Lemon Cove are the gateway communities for Sequoia National
Park, which is home to the world’s largest trees and offers magnificent
views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Named after the three forks of the
Kaweah River, Three Rivers is situated in the foothills of the Sierra
Mountains at an elevation between 800 to 1200 feet above sea level,
along the Kaweah River. Characterized by mild and wet winters, and warm,
dry summers, snow is rare but there are occasional summer thunderstorms
that take the edge off of the heat. The average yearly high and low
temps of
76/43 degrees give visitors and residents alike, the year-round
opportunity to enjoy the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and the
Sequoia National Forest, which are just minutes away and offer a number
of recreational opportunities including camping, hiking, fishing,
boating, and horseback riding. The world’s largest tree, the General
Sherman, is found in the Giant Forest, and one of the deepest canyons is
found in the Kings Canyon National Park. Three Rivers is also home to
the Three Rivers Historical Society Museum, and the second smallest post
office in the country which is over 120 years old and is still in
operation.
Lemon Cove’s Lake Kaweah, is home to the world’s largest dam fusegates,
and offers plenty of boating, fishing and family fun.
The area’s events include the Jazzaffair, the Redbud Art Festival, and
Team Roping events, park ranger programs and walks in the Sequoia
National Park, the Giant Sequoia Festival, Fall Carnival, Holiday Craft
Bazaar, Nation’s Christmas Tree Ceremony and more. Planning a stay here
is a real treat for a family reunion, a wedding, or just an adventure
trip into the scenic surroundings, that all will enjoy.

Artist Spotlight – Jana Botkin: Jana Botkin grew up in rural Tulare County, California, surrounded by orange groves, with a daily view of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. In 1987 Jana named her business CABINART because she began her professional career began with drawing cabins in Mineral King using just pencil. The detailed accuracy in these renderings is still her trademark style. Jana also works in colored pencils and has transitioned to oil painting. Her painting style is different than her drawing style, although one can recognize the signature subject matter: citrus, local landscape, Sequoia National Park, and the historic Mineral King area.
