About
Sedona, Arizona
Located in the high
desert of Arizona, at 4400 feet above sea level, Sedona is only 2 hours
from Phoenix, 5 hours from Las Vegas, and 7 hours from Los Angeles.
Sedona has an average rainfall of 17 inches, an average high temperature
of 74 degrees, a population of more than 20,000 residents, and attracts
over 40 million visitors a year. The area is blessed with natural Red
Rock formations at the beginning of Oak Creek Canyon, and was voted the
most beautiful place in America in 2003 by US Weekend.
The city was founded
in the early 1900s and was incorporated in 1988. Sedona was primarily a
rural ranching community that was far off the beaten path, until the
motion picture industry brought the beauty of the area to light with
many TV shows and commercials filmed there. The city is about 19 square
miles in size and only 51 percent is privately owned with the rest
falling into the boundaries of the Cococino National Forest. Sedona is
served by an impressive array of public and private schools, churches of
all denominations, and an extremely professionally organized medical and
health care system, which makes Sedona not only a tourist location but a
very high quality place to live.
Sedona has numerous inns, motels, hotels, and resorts, with its share of
AAA and 4 Diamond establishments to stay at. Visitors and residents
alike enjoy the many activities this beautiful area provides including
biking, hiking, camping, skiing, and golf, along with many sightseeing
tours and trips. Whether you are young or old, looking to relocate or
visit - you must come and spend some quality time in Sedona and see for
yourself!
