About Prescott, AZ

If you’re looking for a cool summer getaway come to the highlands of Central Arizona and the Prescott Area.  Located 90 minutes north of Phoenix, this mile-high retreat boasts average summer temperatures of 85 degrees Fahrenheit.  As Arizona’s original territorial capital, Prescott holds a wealth of history and culture preserved from its earlier territorial days.
Outdoor enthusiasts will find the area a veritable playground for outdoor activities.  The Prescott
National Forest maintains over 450 miles of recreational trails.  Five area lakes provide opportunities for fishing, kayaking and canoeing.  Golfers can test their skills on a different course (there are five public courses) every day.
Be sure to take in an afternoon horse race at the new Yavapai Downs horse racing and equestrian facility just outside of Prescott Valley on Highway 89-A.  Racing begins Memorial Day Weekend and continues throughout the summer.
In addition to the endless recreational opportunities, be sure to take advantage of some of the many summer activities in Prescott and the neighboring communities of Prescott
Valley and Chino Valley.  For information on events in Prescott call 1-800-266-7534, for Prescott Valley call (928) 772-8857, and for Chino Valley call (928) 636-2493.
