Overview
The Reno-Tahoe Territory is
famous for outdoor as well as indoor entertainment. Fabulous Lake Tahoe
and Pyramid Lake provide everything from beautiful scenery, hiking,
skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, swimming, boating, to kayaking and water
sports. Carson City, Nevada's capital, is home to the restored V&T
railway that runs from Virginia City to Gold Hill, as well as the
museums, and ample opportunities for fine dining, gaming and nightlife
entertainment. Genoa, the first settlement in Nevada, is home to
the oldest bar in Nevada, hot mineral springs, a winery, an a great
place to golf. Reno is another city known for gaming, fine dining,
museums, a planetarium and great entertainment. Virginia City gives the
visitor a glimpse into the old west mining days with museums, saloons,
and even holds Camel and Ostrich Races every September.
Attractions include the Nevada State Railroad Museum, Children's Museum
of Northern Nevada, Nevada Museum of Art, Topaz Lake, Fleischmann
Planetarium, Tahoe Ridge Winery, David Walley's Hot Springs, The Genoa
Bar, Heavenly Ski Area Gondola, Bower's Mansion, Black Rock Desert,
National Wild Horse and Burro Center, Nevada State Museum, Stewart

Scenic Drives include the
State Route 445 that travels around the shoreline of Pyramid Lake and
the Lake Tahoe National Scenic Byway where State Route 28 and Highway 50
combine for a 28 mile impressive scenic stretch. Mount Rose Scenic
Byway, State Route 431 climbs up Mount Rose Summit to the 8,911 foot
pass and then travels down into the Tahoe Basin.
