Three men, Nigel Shaw (England),
Guillermo
Martinez (Mexico), and Hiroki Okano (Japan), combine their
talents in a new cd, Bamboo Cedar Oak, that honors
the joining of three different cultures. It blends the
spirits of the three men, their friendship, the influence of
the lands they all feel so closely connected to, and their
individual points of view regarding life, love and respect
for all living things. Guillermo is mentor/teacher to Evren Ozan, the young flute player who won the Native American Music Rising Star Award in 2001. Evren will be releasing a new CD, in mid-spring this year, featuring his own compositions. He is backed by a parade of musicians playing various world percussion instruments.
