Meet Broken Monk...

Rock never dies! But it does evolve... At the heart of its existence, Broken Monk is on a mission to push the endless boundaries of rock music composition. Its four members come together with different tastes and influences, which combine to form their unique style of music. With so many influences coming together, the band is able to achieve a variety of different sounds while staying true to their approach.

Sean comes from a background of 80’s rock with training in jazz guitar playing and vocals which have been compared to the sounds of Staind, Tool, and Metallica. Jace brings to the table a love for rock and old school punk. He is a versatile bassist, able to play with the speed of punk rock, or with the elegance of classical music. Matt has heavy influences from the guitars of modern rock and modern punk. Within Broken Monk compositions you can catch his use of effects and trademark octave slides over the fretboard. Rick adds a lot of energy to the songs with his quick and powerful drumming. He has a strong interest in jazz drumming and definitely makes use of those skills while composing.

While maintaining a dedication to the evolution of rock music, the members of Broken Monk also dedicate their energy to performances. No matter what the venue or size of the crowd, Broken Monk is sure to give each and every performance 110%!

New Demo CD Released...

In October of 2003 the members of Broken Monk set out to record their premier sampler CD. After some good references they decided to go with Jalipaz at audioconfusion and Realtime Recording. He was great to work with and really helped to shape the sound of the band. Often times punk and rock music can get too distorted and noisy, but Jalipaz was able to smooth out the sound while maintaining the balance of power and harmony. The band selected two songs to record, Your Reality and A New Beginning. They are capable of performing a wider variety of music styles than what is demonstrated here. However, the band felt that these two songs exemplify the full amount of energy which they bring to the stage time and time again. The CD is now available to fans everywhere direct through the Broken Monk website, at concerts, or through other retailers which can be found on the website.
