About La Jolla, California

Spanish for 'the jewel', La Jolla is one of San Diego's first neighborhoods to be settled, and it's to wonder as it boasts spectacular beaches and park areas that are popular for great diving, swimming, surfing, hiking, romantic sunset strolls, and family fun. La Jolla's village area boasts a beautiful Mediterranean charm and a cool Southern Californian vibe, and rolls out the red carpet when it comes to it's fine dining, theatre and cultural activities, boutique shopping, art galleries, and fine lodging establishments. It's no wonder how La Jolla's  'Prospect Street' was dubbed 'San Diego's Rodeo Drive'. One of La Jolla's main attractions is the Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institute of Oceanography, UCSD. Here one can experience a diverse variety of marine life and explore a rocky tide pool over looking the coastline.
