About Green Valley, Az Boasting a population of 26,000 residents, Green Valley sits at 2900 feet above sea level and is located just 20 minutes south of Tucson, off of I-19, in southern Arizona’s beautiful Santa Cruz River Valley, a popular birding and golf destination. With only an average of one inch per year of snow combined with the average highs and lows 85/48 degrees, 9 golf courses, numerous shopping plazas, dozens of recreational clubs, class "A" medical facilities, and diversified places of worship; Green Valley is considered to be a booming retirement community for those seeking an active lifestyle. While most of the Green Valley community is age restricted, just a few miles north is the ever expanding town of Sahuarita, where children and families enjoy excellent schools and parks. Being only 20 miles from the metropolis of Tucson, Green Valley residents can experience the big city life quite easily, but for a vast number of people there is little reason to venture away. With more than 12 active recreational centers offering year round swimming, tennis, and shuffleboard among other activities, the 11,000 household memberships find no reason to go very far from home.
