Serving It Up --Southwestern Style

The Mexican Breakfast Burrito at Margarita's Restaurant in historic mountain town - Julian, CA

A fresh flour tortilla stuffed with scrambled eggs, beans and rice, then lavishly topped of with spicy salsa verde, grated cheese and a dollop of sour cream - this house specialty just bursts with flavor. A favorite eating spot for locals and visitors alike, Margarita's serves authentic Mexican and American cuisine; and is located in the historic De Luca House, in the heart of Julian's downtown district. (760) 765-3980

Southwest Pizza - Wynola Pizza Express: Sizzling with the spices of the southwest - this signature pizza is a sensational combination of fire-roasted salsa with marinated tenderloin of beef, green bell peppers, mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, cilantro and oregano. Using fresh dough, all their pizzas are made from scratch, and roasted in their wood-fired oven. Who knew one could find such delicious gourmet wood-fired pizza out in San Diego's back country. Wynola Pizza is just a few miles from Julian. (760) 765-1004.

Traditional Indian Tacos at Moe's Cafe: A piece of fry bread smothered with sautéed and seasoned hamburger, then covered with lettuce, diced tomatoes and grated cheese; and served with salsa on the side. Specially made by the Cafe's staff Barbara and her son Jay - both who are Diegueno Indians from the local Santa Ysabel Indian Reservation - this tasty and filling meal is only served on Fridays through Sundays. The Cafe's motto is 'one bite and you're hooked! and with this dish, it's most certainly true.. (760) 782-9273.
