Cow
Camp Stew - Feeds a hungry bunch by Ed
Keenan
1 lb bacon
1 small head cabbage
3-4 potato's
1 yellow onion
2-3 carrots sliced thick
Small can of mushrooms
1 can whole corn (drained)
1 pkg smoked sausage
Cover the bottom of Dutch oven with bacon strips. Add a layer of sliced
frying potatoes to cover the bacon. Add a layer of preferred veggies. Add
a layer of sliced smoked sausage. Add a layer of tender cabbage leaves.
Repeat as Dutch oven allows or estimate
servings.
No water required. Veggies supply the
water. Add salt and pepper or seasoning salt to taste.
Low to medium heat, about 1-1/2 hours.
Approx. 3-5 coals under and 8-10 coals on the lid. One layer feeds approx.
4-5
Served with any good bread for soppin’.
