Spring FashionsSpring!

Right after the holidays we start looking forward to spring, even though we know three more months of winter lie ahead. South westerners enjoy days of occasional sun, but we also face days of gloom, rain and cold weather.  It’s not time to put away the sweatshirts, warm coats and long pants just yet!

BUT, the manufacturers send spring goods to the shops in early January, and this is what we have to look forward to this spring.  Capris, capris and more capris, dressy or casual; pretty shades of turquoise, corals, pinks and the old standby red, white, and navy.  For the “mature” ladies, two or three piece capri sets will be the rage. Skirts are slowly coming back, but in softer fabrics with easy pull on styling and few zippers.

Purple, of course is the biggest color fad and not just for spring. The Red Hat Society fuels this phenomenon.  This movement is finally being recognized by the fashion industry and they are offering more styles and fabrics in purple.  Many are decorated with red hat motifs and many are plain.  Hats are becoming more important due to the Red Hat Society.  Ladies who never wore hats, now wear red hats and wear other colors on days they are not “red hatting” A good thing for the hat industry, but more importantly a good thing for women who want to protect their skin from the sun’s damage.

Looking ahead to Fall 2004, jackets will be making a big comeback. All shapes and styles to be worn with pants, skirts, and dresses. Your old jackets will be high fashions for September through the holidays until we again look forward to another spring.
