“Point value” is key to impressions women make appearance wise. Women who have too much going on; too much make-up and jewelry, too many patterns, or too many colors, or those who have too little happening are examples of not knowing the score. Women who look stylish and classy have learned the secret of counting points. In the fashion world, each item we wear is worth a point or more. For example, shoes are one point, pants are one point, a plain skirt is one point but a printed or ruffled or bright colored skirt would be two points. A plain blouse would be one point, but a fancy, dressy, or print blouse would be a two or three pointer. Plain earrings are one point, sparkly and/or dangly would raise the point value to two or three. You get the idea. For that fantastic, classy, put-together look, maximum point value should be 12 to 15. Here is how it works. The girls are getting together for lunch and you plan to wear a bright colored pantsuit with plain pants and a long sleeved button front blouse with roll sleeves and a sleeveless shell. Here’s how to make decisions about accessories to stay within the point value of 12 to 15.
In choice #1 the point value is 18, not totally out of line, but by making changes as in #2 the look becomes more sophisticated, well thought out, and classy. Just because we have lovely accessories or jewelry does not mean we must wear them all. Many times, less is more!
