Weekenders Travel ClothingLooking Cool Even when it’s Hot!
with Leanne Sabo

What you wear during the hot days of summer can have a huge impact on how you are perceived at your place of business. By simply making a few adjustments to your wardrobe, hair, and makeup, you can accommodate the higher temperatures and maintain your cool.

Here are some Dos and Don’ts:

Do:

* Dress in layers. Weekenders garments are perfect for this. Choose a Cascade or Peasant Top and pair it with a jacket, vest or shawl. Wear one of the beautiful lace tops over a cami or other sleeveless top.  Layering allows you to adjust to variable heat and air conditioning combinations and still look professional.

* Choose skirts instead of pants. Not only are skirts cooler because they are not as form fitting but they also add an air of femininity to your outfit. With Weekenders, you have a variety of lengths and fabrics to make the perfect choice for your style.

* Wear your hair up in a simple and attractive style. A French twist, braid, or low ponytail keeps your hair off your neck and helps you look cool and professional. For shorter hair, keep it back with a trendy headband.

* Try wearing different types of hosiery including thigh-high and knee high styles. They can be a cool and less restrictive alternative to pantyhose.

* Try for a lighter hand when it comes to makeup. Hot weather wreaks havoc on makeup causing it to melt, run, puddle, and clog pores. Less is more when it comes to looking your best. Especially now, the natural look is very trendy.

* Pick a light, summertime fragrance. Let your business savvy grab their attention rather than an overpowering fragrance.

Don’t:

* Wear a sleeveless top to the office (even if you have toned upper arms) without a jacket. Cap or short sleeves are much more appropriate in an office environment.

* Omit the hosiery or opt for too casual footwear. Remember, the more skin you show the more casual you appear.

* Get too wild and crazy with summer colors and fashion styles. Save that trendsetting look, i.e. shorts or miniskirts for after hours.
