About
Farmington, New Mexico
Nestled in the
picturesque San Juan River Valley at about 5395 feet above sea level,
Farmington is within eyesight of Colorado’s spectacular mountains, and the
vast desert highlands of Arizona and Utah. With an annual average of 7.5
inches of rainfall and 17.3 inches of snow, this four corners region is
legendary for its 273 days of sunshine and pleasant climate.
Farmington is also the traditional home to a host of Native American
Tribes including the Navajo, Jicarilla, Apache, Ute, Mountain Ute,
Southern Ute, and Hopi Nations. Visiting this area affords the tourist the
opportunity to learn first hand of some of America’s true early history.
Farmington’s extraordinary seasons and climatic conditions make this a
destination to truly enjoy a multitude of activities, some of which are
golf, hiking, fishing, boating, tennis, and racquetball; and just a few
hours to the north, one can enjoy Colorado’s skiing opportunities.
