Fallbrook Music Society Presents Diverse Symphony Program
Fallbrook Music Society is pleased to present the Redlands Symphony Orchestra in a concert which features works by contemporary American composerChristopher Rouse, and Johannes Brahms in a stunning program on Sunday, November 2 at 3:00 p.m. in the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts in Fallbrook.

This program captures maestro Jon Robertson (pictured) conducting the Redlands Symphony Orchestra through two emotionally stirring symphonies:  The Rouse Trombone Concerto and Brahms's Symphony No. 2.

Christopher Rouse is one of America's most prominent composers of orchestral music.  His Trombone Concerto, a New York Philharmonic commission dedicated to Leonard Bernstein, received the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 1993 and will be presented at this concert. The piece is somber, introspective and dance like. Rouse has created a body of work perhaps unequalled in its emotional intensity. The New York Times has called it "some of the most anguished, most memorable music around." The Baltimore Sun has written: "When the music history of the late 20th century is written, I suspect the explosive and passionate music of Rouse will loom large."

Maestro Robertson will also present his unique interpretation of  Brahms's Second Symphony, which was composed in 1877, in the Austrian Alps.  The cheerfulness of the symphony has been likened with the pastoral mood of Beethoven's Sixth Symphony, a bright and joyful piece that can be referred to as "full of sunshine and good cheer".  The Second Symphony premiered in Vienna in 1877 to great acclaim, and Brahms was hailed as the true successor of Beethoven.

Concertgoers are invited to join Conductor Jon Robertson as he delivers a 30-minute Pre-Concert talk. These entertaining and informative talks provide in-depth information on the music, composers, and artists featured in the concert’s works. The Pre-Concert Talk begins one-half hour in the theater prior to the performance.

The concert will be held in the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts, 2400 So. Stage Coach Lane, Fallbrook, CA.
Tickets are $38 adult; $10 student, and can be purchased by calling (760) 451-8644 or online at www.fallbrookmusicsociety.org
