‘Glitter & Chalk: Carnival Prize Caricatures, 1915-1960’:
The exhibit features a large number of carnival chalkware
statues loaned from the collection of Eric Renner, along with
Renner’s one-of-a-kind photographic “portraits” of individual
chalkware figures. Each image resulted from ten-to-thirty-minute
time exposures using a pinhole camera and Polaroid 809 color film.
Exhibit runs until Sept. 28th, at the Silver City Museum.

4th of July Parade & Festival:
A wonderful parade
made up of floats. After the parade everyone shows up in Gough Park
to celebrate with food, arts & crafts and booths of all kinds.

4-5: Independence Day Celebration:
Parades, fireworks and an old-time Ice
Cream Social are highlights during Silver City's annual Independence
Day festivities. Independence Day activities will span two days,
Friday, July 4 & Saturday, July 5. Come join in for the fun! July 4
activities take place throughout Grant County, with its traditional
parades, plus there will also be music, games, arts & crafts, food,
and tug of war between the municipalities. Silver City's July 4
Parade features riders and groups celebrating Grant County's Western
heritage: Many participants are mounted on horseback, adding to the
Old West appeal of downtown Silver City. Enjoy a fun-filled weekend,
ending with fireworks on Saturday, July 5 at dusk. It's a weekend

The Fifteenth Annual San Vicente Art Fair features over
50 local and out-of-town artists and crafters showing and selling
their wares at Big Ditch Park, located in the historic downtown area
of Silver City. Be sure to leave time to visit the many art
galleries that line Bullard, Broadway and Yankie streets as well as
those located a bit off the beaten path. At the Silver City/Grant
County Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center on Hudson Street, you can
obtain a copy of SVA's "Artists Guide" which contains maps for

Show:
The Rolling Stones
Gem and Mineral Show, a Labor Day Weekend tradition in Grant County,
is celebrating twenty five years of showing high quality gems,
minerals and jewelry. Thousands of visitors who leave their hot
humid lowlands to travel to our cool clean mountain environment this
year will enjoy the great diversity of material presented by over 50
vendors from all around the Southwestern United States, Mexico and
more. Quantities of "rough" stones are available for cutting and
polishing work. Equipment and supplies for these endeavors are
available. The Rolling Stones Gem & Mineral Club will also conduct a
silent auction ending every 30 minutes throughout the show, with
many fine mineral specimens, fossils, petrified wood, and cut slabs
