May 4: Cinco de Mayo Festival & Parade: Family event presented by The Coalition of Mexican American Organizations. A day-long celebration of Mexican-American culture. Admission to the festival at Weber Point Event Center is free. Food, arts and crafts, Mariachi, Ballet Folklorico, live music and much more.  Parade with floats starts at 11 am in the Weber Institue Parking Lot. May 6: Ultimate Chef Challenge 2008:
At the Stockton Civic Auditorium, three local chefs
- Nicolas Sanchez from Stockton Golf & Country Club, Julio Camberos, Jr from Black Tie Gourmet, and Jonathan Franco from The River Mill – will have a cook off challenge. They will present their creations to three judges who will determine which chef will be awarded the title of Stockton’s own “Ultimate Chef.” Fundriaser for the Charter House Center. June 4-8: 1st San Joaquin Film Festival: Presented by San Joaquin Cross-Cultural Media in active partnership with organizations in San Joaquin valley, this will be the region's first global film festival, opening in the city of Stockton, which is represented by over 75 ethnic and language groups. Retrospectively, the Stockton-San Joaquin region was a major filming destination and known in the 1960s as "Hollywood North."

Dec. 6-7: 17th Annual Festival of Trees: Features over 70 unique and beautifully decorated Christmas trees at the San Joaquin County Historical Museum located in Micke Grove Park south of Lodi. Docent dressed in vintage Victorian and pioneer clothes will make visitors feel as though they've stepped back in time to celebrate the holiday. In addition to the decorated trees, the event features children's craft activities, demonstrations such as weaving and spinning, model trains, entertainment and historical exhibits.
