Art & Music Radio Show
As part of
SouthwestBlend.com’s ‘Champagne Sunday’s online radio show, we aired
a special ‘Art & Music Show’, from 11am-1pm PST, on Sunday, May 4th.
Featured guests include musician Victoria White; musician Michael Chain,
artist Victoria Chick, and Colleen Aichle – owner of Fallbrook Fine Art
& Cody Fine Art Gallery.
Featured Guests Include:
Victoria
White – Singer Songwriter
Singer-songwriter Victoria White will be joining us to talk about her
debut album ‘The Upside’ which is set for release on May 16th,
and was produced by famed longtime ‘Earth, Wind & Fire’ guitarist
Sheldon Reynolds, and signed to legendary EWF Founder Maurice White’s
Kalimba Music label. The singer’s poetic, easy grooving first single
“Can’t Buy Love” has just been released to smooth jazz and adult
contemporary radio outlets. White composed every song on the album by
herself with the exception of the ambient, acoustic guitar driven
“Forgiven,” a co-write with Reynolds. The track “Keep On Going” features
the beautiful piano of one of smooth jazz’s most acclaimed performers,
keyboardist Brian Culbertson.

Victoria
Chick – Artist in Silver City, New Mexico
Artist Victoria Chick will be joining us to discuss her art career, and
to tell us about the flourishing art scene in Silver City, New Mexico.
Victoria works in various mediums including acrylic paint on canvas; and
creates original, hand-pulled prints such as one-of-a-kind monotypes;
and does drypoint, an intaglio technique with the linear qualities of
drawing. Victoria Chick is known for her use of the cat image to express
the human condition, and for that reason, the body language and the
relationship of the cat to other images in the picture plane is what
interests her. But her imagery is not limited to felines. Another
influence on Chick’s work was her experience as a registered art
therapist in Kansas City.

Michael
Chain – Musician, Song & Screenwriter
When it
comes to song writing, the story's the thing, and Michael Chain tells
one with the best of them. Chain has been a top music and screenwriter
for years (major artists record his tunes, and his shows have been EMMY
nominated). And the man can sing. A quick listen to any cut on Chain's
new CD ‘Loud and Proud’ makes that clear. The first cut released from
the album "Do You Wanna Do It?" hit #1 on the Hot AC Indie Charts. Chain
performs with a cast who have played with George Harrison, Steely Dan,
the Rolling Stones, Ring Starr, Joe Cocker, Elton John, Billy Joel, Tom
Waits, Bob Seger, Eric Clapton, Dylan, Waylon, Faith, Tina, Shania, and
more! Chain knows his way around a recording studio, but concerts are
where his heart is. From hell holes the Hollywood Bowl he has shared the
stage with everybody from Led Zeppelin to Louis Armstrong. B.J. Thomas,
Vicki Laurence, Lee Roy Van Dyke, the Knack, Eric Andersen, Wayne
Newton, the Mills Brothers, Manuela Torres and John Davidson, to name a
few, have cut Michael's tunes and his script credits range from Punky
Brewster and Police Academy to Rambo and Chuck Norris. You've heard
Chain's voice as the Transformers, the Chicken McNuggets, and on
hundreds of TV and radio spots. This should be one heck of an interview
– heck, Sinatra gave the boy his first singing job, Bob Dylan encouraged
him to pursue a recording career, and Buck Owens told him "cut your damn
hair!"
Due to technical difficulties, Michael Chain's interview has been edited into parts, we apologize for this, but you can hear the entire interview by clicking on the Play Buttons below, in the order presented.
