Southern Arizona’s Premier Indian Art Show and Market Features 200 Artists and Performers

For collectors of top-quality Indian art, Arizona State Museum’s Southwest Indian Art Fair (SWIAF) means one-stop shopping. Rather than trekking across the region to seek out your treasures, 200 of the finest artists will held right in Tucson, and the Arizona State Museum.

There’s something for everyone, at every possible price range. As always, visitors will enjoy talking with the artists, learning from Native experts, watching demonstrations, sampling Native foods, and listening to musical performances.

Whether you are a serious collector, casual buyer, or first-time visitor, you will find much to experience, learn, and enjoy at the 14th annual Southwest Indian Art Fair. Join us February 23 and 24!

Southwest Indian Art Fair, Tucson, AZAmong the 200 artists and performers scheduled to appear at this year’s SWIAF are:

Performances:

  • Rupert Encinas (Tohono O’odham): opening blessing

  • Ha:san Ne’edam (intertribal songs, from Ha:san Preparatory School)

  • No:ligk Traditional Dancers (Tohono O’odham)           

  • Anthony Wakeman (Pottawatomi/Oglala Lakota) and Louie Gonnie (Dine) flute and vocals, courtesy Canyon Records

  • Bird Singing and Dancing by the River (Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community)  

  • Apache Crown Dance Club (San Carlos Apache) (unconfirmed)

  • Pablo Waila Band(Tohono O’odham) 

  • Thee Express (O’odham), chicken scratch music, courtesy Canyon Records

Featured Artist: Vino ManuelFeatured Artist:
Vino Manuel is the Featured Artist for Arizona State Museum’s 2008 Southwest Indian Art Fair. His pencil drawing "Warrior Boy and Girl" is the featured piece and can be seen on posters, postcards, and ads. Manuel can found at Table B3 during the Fair on February 23 and 24. SOUTHWEST INDIAN ART FAIR will be held on February 23 and 24, 2008

Location: Arizona State Museum (on the University of Arizona campus), 1013 E University Boulevard in Tucson, AZ

Dates: February 23 & 24, 2008
Times: 10 am – 5 pm Saturday, 10 am – 4 pm Sunday
Admission: Single day admission: $8 adults, $3 children 12-16 (children 11 and under free). Two-day passes: $12. UA and Pima CC students: free with school ID
