Artist Spotlight - ‘Chandee Richins’

We recently became aware of Chandee Richins, a phenomenal 17 year old artist from Salt Lake City, Utah. From watercolors and chalk art, to photography and sketching, Chandee has an eye for beauty and the talent in transferring it to a medium which can be shared with others. With the incredible depth of emotion in her work, I could not believe she was just 17 years old, let alone self taught.

In a recent conversation with her, Chandee explained that she got started in art by looking at something, then drawing it until she got what she wanted as a picture. She chooses her subjects by pure emotion and feeling, and then captures them as a piece of art. Chandee especially enjoys portraiture, but also likes to photograph wildlife and nature, and is known for doing murals, as seen pictured. She has worked in oil, watercolor, and charcoal, but favors charcoal because of its blending qualities.
Besides art, this creative young lady also loves to dance. Her future includes studying art and modern dance at the University of Utah.
