Currently home to over 7,000 residents, during the Gold Rush era Arnold was once a logging community made up of two ranches. Along with the establishment of the Ebbetts Pass Inn & Restaurant in 1927, the area caters to travelers visiting the redwood Sequoia groves in Calaveras Big Trees State Park, the Stanislaus National Forest, and the popular travel destinations of Angels Camp and Murphys. Visitors and residents enjoy year-round outdoor recreation including hiking, bicycling, golf, fishing, and world class winter sports. Arnold is also home to fine eateries and interesting shops and has a full calendar of special events featuring concerts, arts and crafts festivals, and recreational sporting events.
Arnold is located off of
Highway 4, north of Angels Camp and Murphys, and south of Bear Valley.

about 16 miles from Murphys; about 32 miles from Bear Valley; about 55
miles from Stockton; and about 95 miles from Sacramento.
